After a two year suspension of production, Carson City resumed minting Twenty Liberties in 1882. In spite of a relatively small mintage of 39,140 it’s possible this date was shipped to European countries to facilitate commercial trades. Experts believe this is why we’ve seen many circulated examples appear in the market place from time to time as they repatriate in mixed Double Eagle hoards.
This issue becomes scarce in AU, with Mint State survivors being overpriced by the market. Our coin has a bold strike, full mint luster that compliments the nice original khaki yellow-gold surfaces.
A pleasing coin overall that is fresh to the market and PQ for the grade.
