Low Mintage of 17,781

NGC graded this example over 20 years ago and it’s been off the market just as long. We purchased this from an East Coast collection that we recently picked up. Fresh to the market.

The 1839-O was the first New Orleans two and a half dollar issue, and the only Classic quarter eagle issue from the facility. Despite a low mintage, two die marriages exist. All examples are coveted by O-mint type collectors. This near Mint State example exhibits luster throughout the borders and motifs. The well-struck sea-green and wheat-gold surfaces definitely saw some circulation before it was tucked away into someone’s collection.
