Struck at the Denver Mint with an original mintage of just 453,000 coins, the 1914-D is considerably scarcer than the mass-market dates normally encountered among Saint-Gaudens Double Eagles. While examples can be located in lower Mint State grades, the issue becomes substantially more challenging at the Gem MS65 level, with MS66 coins notably scarce.

This particular coin presents beautifully, with strong golden color, excellent mint luster, a sharp strike and attractive surfaces worthy of the Gem designation.
